Investigation Reveals Local Medical Center Missing 2 million in Funds

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

DECADENT ISLES -- More than $2 million in expected funds appear to be missing from the accounts of the Decadent Isles Medical Center, according to the yearly financials released yesterday to the public.

Hospital records show that the operating budget for the facility was in excess of $10 million this past fiscal year. However, accounting records show that there is less than $8.5 million in funding in the hospital financial accounts.

In August of this year, a fundraiser was held by the owners of the Jaded Gentlemen's Club (now Club Noir), Londynn Briar and Christian Wolffe, with the explicit intent of raising funds for the Medical Center. According to records, approximately $2 million was raised during the event, but hospital books show no reflection of receipt of these funds.

It was also during this time that there was a transition in leadership at the center. Former CEO Grace Fontineau had stepped down and the board hired Summer Georgia as replacement. Ms. Georgia took office several days after the fundraising event, when the monies should have been entered into the hospital accounts. However, this does not appear to be the case.

The Journal has requested for full access to Ms. Georgia's personnel file, under the Freedom of Information Act, but has been denied said request. Ms. Georgia's office declined to respond to calls for comments regarding the missing funds.
