Decadent residents were in for a rude awakening on Saturday (08/15) afternoon after a local man took to the streets in a tank. Residents reported hearing rumblings as the tank made its way up Lombard Street. A small crowd gathered as the man, now known as Alexander Regenthal, shot two rounds out into the sea, targeting what he called 'pirates.' When asked about his attack, Mr. Regenthal told Isles Journal reporters of the kidnapping of a woman by pirates, "The ships that came to the island, of course! And how? I don't know." He stated, "They slipped in at night and took her. scrambled my cameras for security." Soon after, he sang pirate-based sea shanties, smoked a cigar, and drank whiskey, declaring that he sank one of the ships.
Mr. Regenthal continued his assault on the Decadent shoreline before turning and heading down Park Ave. However, before leaving, he advertised the tank with a final statement, proudly proclaiming, "And this here pirate sinking sum bitch can be sold at the gun Emporium!"
Decadent Isles Police Department Chief Miles Logan gave further insight into the incident, revealing that two girls, both of whom are in their 20s, were also involved in this already interesting episode.
In an interview with the Journal Chief Logan commented, "well, I can tell you the two girls involved were arrested and released on bond. The man who drove the tank was also arrested, arraigned, and is out on bail as well."
The Chief declined to comment on the two women's identities, only stating that they are facing charges of tampering with evidence, interfering with a police investigation, and reckless endangerment.
Mr. Regenthal was charged with drunk driving, public intoxication, reckless endangerment with the additional charges of both destructions of public and private property, and discharging of a deadly weapon.
Chief Logan also stated that there have been no pirate sightings in or around Decadent.
