Old Dock B&B Residents Escape Storm Aftermath

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Early on Monday morning, the full extent of Yo Mamma could be seen as the weather started to clear a little and the dark skies began to gradually reveal the clear blue sky we are so accustomed to in Decadent.

And one story to come out of the aftermath of the hurricane was the daring rescue at the Ole Dock B&B of residents and those that had chosen to use it as a safe haven from the store.

Such was the force of the storm that it the scaffolding which had been used to board up the windows of the B&B was blown across the resident's entrance to the building, trapping those inside as the twisted steel and wood structure landed blocked the exit to the building.

Thankfully however it was the quick thinking of two local women that not only secured the precariously position tangle of steel and wood but also saw them able to assist in the rescue of those trapped inside.

Even with parts of the structure staring to work loose, and at potential risk to their own safety local residents Abby Thompson and Summer Georgia flew into action working together to prop each side of the structure up with nearby pallets stacked in the alley at the side of the building, and lashing the structure together to secure it so that those inside could safely remove the boards blocking the entrance and crawl under the structure.

Residents voiced their gratitude to the two women as they left the building, and were checked over by Summer, a Doctor at the local hospital with just 1 patient needing admitting with a broken arm. while Abby, a former member of the military, used her expertize to further secure the fallen scaffolding.
